I went exploring and revisited this old building near my house. It used to be a school, but it's been sitting empty for as long as I can remember. Here's what the building looks like from the outside [link]
A computer expansion slot cover later, and I was in (yes I know, I'm a geek…). Went during the night so it was pitch black, but I brought my good flash, although my shots still have a fairly strong "shot-with-a-flash" look to them. Oh well.
Old abandoned places are just fun and great to take pictures of. Any thoughts?

It's not the largest place and there isn't a whole lot to shoot, but there's this blackboard that looks pretty cool. There's just a few newer metal support polls that really look out of place there.
How do you get into places like this? Do you just casually walk in? I'm guessing the old spots you shoot at are further out in the country, without many people around.
And I really want to go back here during the day to shoot with better light. It's sort of out of hidden in the woods, so I might go back and see how the traffic is, see if I think I can risk it.
Go back when all that snow hits, if it's not too far and wouldn't be unsafe, it might make for some nice shots. Whatever happens, if it's as big of a storm as they are thinking, you've got to go out and shoot as much as you can of some place.
Yeah, Jon. You should really keep up on this shit.
Tonight about 4 inches, tomorrow night through the day Wednesday they say anywhere from 8-12 inches for the lighter hit places, and over a foot for the worst areas... "excess of a foot," or "we have no fucking clue but a shit ton!" They say it's possible that ice might hit the southern parts of Michigan as well. Either way, they say that we're pretty much guaranteed a nasty nor'easter with winds around 30mph and zero visibility.
I think it's in Wisconsin right now. Once it hits the lake, you know how it goes, all bets are off.
