I went and explored a house not far from me that had a fire in it a while ago. The fire didn't totally destroy everything, so a lot of the house was still fairly safe. This is the family room, and this fireplace was pretty cool.

Ironically, there's a fire extinguisher next to it

Anyway, I went during the night and had to use the flash on my camera. I prefer to stick the camera on a tripod and take a long exposure, but even at 64 seconds (the longest exposure my camera can do), I couldn't even get anything to show up, let alone anything close to a proper exposure.

So this is with my flash going off. I spent a while trying to adjust the curves of different parts to try and make it seem like it wasn't shot with a flash (you know, that typical shot-with-a-flash type image), and it's not too bad I don't think.

Not the best framing, but I didn't have much light and the viewfinder was nearly useless.

Anyway, let me know what you think :)

This is a lovely picture. This is the type of picture that's writable. It's darkand moody but could be lite and dreamy, if written properly, it could be both. It reminds me of the movie, Things we Lost in the Fire."
I think you have the lighting set perfectly. I, personally wouldn't change anything about this picture at all. :+favlove:

You know, I have my faves on that sit back and watch setting. I always pause it when I see this one. It reminds me of something I wrote years ago. It's that story that I can't seem to find a beginning and am trumped for the finishing touches because I don't know how to write it. It was, in fact, a dream... Well, a combination of dreams that I was trying to write. As they came each night after waking, I was not nearly as fast a 'typist' as I am now and I am still slow and look at the keyboard while typing. However, this picture has evoked these dreams so fresh that I'm dreaming them again... Although, not as vividly as before. I'll have to meditate my dream control again. (It's possible to do so, I did it in a very short time span before, so I can't see it taking long once I can focus.)

I will not promise anything, as promises are much like plans I make - I can't rely on my body for physical planning and I can not rely on my mind for writing promises. I'm that forgetful... Or I'm that awful. I've not decided which, yet.

It looks like firewood that didnt burn either under there lol.
Just wondering, did you try this in B&W or a light sepia tone? I would think it would give it that old run down feeling to it? But maybe you did try that and it didnt work?
Anyways it turned out not too bad for what you had :D

Yup, tried black and white, but (for some reason) it really didn't look very good.

Thanks for the comments :)

Haha, nope not my room =P

But I can almost see how you thought that at first, since from a quick look at the small thumbnail, it doesn't really seem like a fire had happened there.
