This is an idea I've wanted for a while now, and I decided to visualize it.

But a simple image wouldn't really show how I envision this, so I made it a video.


We've all seen the (1 Reply) links under comments (and sometimes more than 1 Reply), and it's always a bit annoying to open up the reply link to see what people are saying under it.

But it's an obvious problem due to how dA nests replies. You can only move the replies over so much, so eventually you run out of room and have to have another way to show the replies.

This video is how I would like it to work when you click the (1 Reply) link. Rather than load another page to see the comments, and have to click back on your browser to go back and keep on reading, the replies would load onto the same page quickly to make it easier.

This is a rather small video, so I couldn't show how it would all work, but I thought that once you click the View More Replies button (which would normally be (1 Reply) ) the nested replies above it would all wipe to the left. Just the replies on that string of replies, so not other comments that people aren't replying to that are above or below it.

Then the comments/replies below it would go down and the replies that are on the (1 Reply) page would fade into view. And if there's another (1 Reply) on that string of replies, you could do the same thing there.

Also, if you want to quickly see the replies that are all to the far left of the page, you could hover over them and they'd pop into view, just so you could read them again. Then when your mouse goes off of the comment, it would fly to the left of the page again.

To reset things back to normal, you would click the Hide Replies button.

So that's a much better way to efficiently read people's conversations here. I don't know about you guys, but that (1 Reply) thing seems so old and outdated. A big part of dA is communicating with one another, and this would make it so much easier.



Anyone have any thoughts or ideas or questions about this idea?
