Important—To install: Chrome has recently changed how extensions are allowed to be installed. They must be installed from the google store. Because I do not want to upload this there, you will have to download this extension file and then drag it into your Chrome extensions page to install.
It seems I linked to an older version of this extension, so if you see any odd issues, try reinstalling this again I don't think there's any difference, but the version linked below should be cleaner, and I know it works. Sorry
This is an auto join, for the chats, for google Chrome
As many Firefox users know, having an auto join is very helpful, to quickly get to all of your favorite chat rooms without the tedious /join channel1 channel2 channel3 etc. so this lets you add channels in and then auto join them all in one easy move
This is very similar to the Firefox auto join. You can enter in chat rooms (don't include the #) and hit the Add/Remove button, or just hit enter. Then to remove a room, you simply type the name of the room that's in the auto join list, and it will remove it. From my testing, it's sometimes a bit strange and sometimes removes rooms if the room names are too similar to one that is on the list already, but it's shouldn't be a big deal.
Then at the bottom you can see the Join #room button. Click that, and you will be taken to your first room on that list (although it can sometimes join you multiple times if you enter in rooms for the first time and just go strait to that button. Close the auto join popup and reopen it to keep that from happening). But that won't actually do the auto joining. Once you're in a chat room, you have to click that button again to join all your rooms.
At the top left is a Clear button, and that will erase all of your rooms (after a confirm popup) in case you want to completely change things or change the order. I had originally wanted to have two buttons at the bottom; Auto Join, then Join #room. So that clicking on Auto Join would automatically open a new connection and auto join you, and the Join #room would just take you to the first room on the list. But Chrome extensions are a bit limited, and the JavaScript is pretty sandboxed. So this will have to do. It's a bit strange hitting that button after you join the chats, and it will give you already joined errors if you hit the button again, but I don't think it's too much of a hassle
I'd like to give a big thank you to ~coolbeans234 for designing the extension icon, and to =logeg for giving me some help with the extension (and sorry man, but I just couldn't get the background.html page to work better. I tried a ton of stuff, but I couldn't get it working )
To Install
You can install this if you visit this link from Chrome. It should automatically detect that it's a Chrome extension, and you can install it by hitting the button at the bottom of your browser and then confirming you want to add it.
-- This isn't the best Chrome extension, and there's some oddness with how it works, but it seems to do the job. Let me know how it works for you
This is very interesting, now I'm not a constant user of Google Chrome, but if I feel like using it,I want to try it. I hope many people use this if they are users of Chrome,I'm mainly a user of FireFox,but I look forward to use this when I want to chat,it saves the hassle and bother of going through many pages just to get to one chat. Anybody who is reading this, remember,I mean what I say and every thing I said is true,I would never lie about wonderful things like this, keep up the good work electricjonny! *thumbs up* I look forward to stuff like this.
It seems as though Google Chrome has blocked third party extension installation.. Can you load this to the Chrome webstore please? I really liked this on my old computer.
i figured out how to load it. if you download the extension, and open up the extensions window in chrome/chromium, then drag and drop the extension from your downloads ont onto the extensions page, and it will load to chrome/chromium.
