planet ferris state version 2 by electricjonny planet ferris state version 2 by electricjonny
so i was playing around with one of my older images and after a day or so of tweaking and fine tuning, i am submitting what i think is a better version of my old one

click here to see the old one and for a description of how i did it.

i added the black background and blended the hard edge of the circle into it, messed with some color and blending modes, fixed up the center A LOT, and added the border and title.

the one thing i don't like about it is the detail sort of got lost in the darkening of the image.

what are your thoughts?

An odd question, but I almost always have it running. Not constantly though.

I assume you used that tutorial, no? (Or at least until you started to erase the edges)

Yeah, that's more or less how I did it. Although I had never seen how to do this when I first started, I later saw the online tutorials after I did it, so I like to feel special because I thought up the idea and technique on my own :D

I made the edges blur like that since I didn't like the solid edge it did, and I played with a lot of other small things to tweak it since my panorama wasn't that great to begin with :)

by accident I saw this and thought of how could it be made....

I am preparing my pocket for a panoramic camera and after browsing, I found this guy....

does similar job with the one you do but no instructions....

So, I give you the link as he/ she seems has found a way to perfect the technique.

This is the URL: [link]
check it out !

Also check this if your german is good. I found it while trying to recover the above URL. Check [link]

It was a 360 degree panoramic, with 90 degrees up and down. Then I spun it around and darkened the edges. If I find the tutorial on how to do it, I'll post a link :)

I've seen a few things kind of like it before, but I did it before I knew how to do it :slow:

There are so many things to keep up with these days that I just sit back, take it slow, and learn a few things here and there. I can't keep up with the hubbub of all the cool cats and the equipment and editing styles. I feel so old and slow and I'm only 22 haha

Yeah, this is better than the first version. Nice concept, to have the N-E-W-S letters on the ground. Really good! These little planet are difficult but very effective.

i like the image, very intresting.. but i think it feels to crampt in that border, the image should be bigger with the coloured part smaller and off the center (especially if your trying to portray a planet).. and please please take that horriable title font away, it just takes your attention away from the image and makes you think "my what an alfuw font" instead of "what a cool looking photograph".

thanks, i was wondering about that border and font. i'm playing around with the idea of getting the school to buy it as a postcard or something, so that's how the title came into it.
