Windows 7: Best OS Yet
So today, May 5
th, they are releasing Windows 7 RC1, or Release Candidate 1. Given how well the 7000 build of Windows 7 Beta has treated me, I only expect good things from it

I don't have it yet, since I'm still downloading it (it's 3.05 GB big), and I still have a lot of backup work to do from my current operating. I backup all my important files, and I keep all of my media on a separate hard drive, but I need to go through my hard drive and make sure I know exactly what to back up or reinstall when I install RC1 tomorrow. Mostly I think it will be backing up my
Firefox Profile and writing a list of applications I have so I can download them all and stick them in my folder for reinstalling things back to normal.
But once that's all done, I'll be installing it

This is really a pretty damn good operating system. It's way better than Vista, and I really liked Vista. And this will last for a year, so I won't even need to buy it for a while

So I would give it a try, if you want. It's free, and there's no limit to the number of downloads or anything. You have a month or two to download RC1. And if you're a Windows person in general, I would check out the
Windows Weekly podcast. It's a talk radio type thing (that's what most podcasts are) that talks about Microsoft and the latest news from them. Lately it's all been about Windows 7 and a few other things, along with the Zune and other things made by Microsoft.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll update this once I install it and install all my files again. Until then, you should all try it out

Preview: I talk about getting the new Windows 7 RC1 operating system. I don't have it yet, but I expect good things from it.
Might you be able to walk me through some major update I'm missing in mine.. or at least backing up the entire contents of my pc to my external HD so I can start all over again. Every time I try, I get this PC doctor thing pop up and it makes my computer worse than it was before
Basically, you back up all you installation files so you can install whatever programs you want, then you backup you data, like papers or pdf files or anything you want to keep.
It still takes a while to go from a fresh install of an OS to something you're used to, but after backing things up and reinstalling programs, you can get it pretty much back to normal. Some things will need to be saves, like your personal preferences in certain applications, but that's not hard. It just takes time.
I would make sure to backup your Documents folder, or wherever you keep your files, then back up you programs. I also have a link to a journal of mine where I say how to backup you Firefox profile in this journal, so you can get that back to normal.
