We're Down To This Now?

I don't like politics.  At all.  In fact, I've never even voted, and I'm 33 years old.  But I say that proudly, as I don't have the time/research/knowledge to vote with any wisdom.  You hear "You have to vote, every vote counts!" this way and that.  Sorry no, but very few votes across the centuries have ever come so close that any one person not voting would make a difference.  I don't vote because my vote would not be a smart vote.  And I would encourage people to take the same opinion.

For this Clinton and Trump campaign going on now, it feels much like how anything on the net feels (or it may be because I hear so many different things on the net?).  You have some vague knowledge of what the candidates are saying, their views and propositions and whatnot, but you then hear a tape of Trump saying some creepy shit or hear that Clinton leaked some shit from a private email server, and then people blow up and take it to new places.  With the internet being so conversational and making articles in the blink of the eye by practically anyone, you have to make sure that you know what you know, and how accurate what you know is.

If I ruled the universe, I would make it not possible for any sort of information to be shown to people about the candidates.  Each and every person would have to reach out and find out for themselves what each candidate is wanting to do for this country.  Voting isn't just our right, but it's our responsibility.  Our responsibility to research and do the hard work it takes to make an informed decision.  I can't do it, and probably not many can do it.  But that's fine.  As long as there's some 25 or so percent of hard working and smart people that can do it.

This vote feels so hopeless (not that any other votes have felt better) and I blame the fact that people are voting based on clever memes than actually looking into what the candidates are working to do.  It feels like Trump is the troll and Hillery is the badly arguing white knight.  Thoughts on this?
